Tasting notes 61 Vermouth Verdejo
Vermouth.
61 Vermouth Verdejo is a vermouth with characteristic notes of the Verdejo variety, as well as aromas of scrubland, with nuances of fennel, elderflower, thyme and rosemary. On the palate it is balanced and very pleasant, with a balsamic note that corresponds to the nose, a long mid-palate and a subtly bitter finish.
About 61 Vermouth Verdejo
61 Vermouth Verdejo is made by the Cuatro Rayas cooperative winery in La Seca, a small town in Valladolid famous for the quality of the Verdejo grapes grown there. It is these grapes that give character and personality to this first vermouth created with a base wine made of this variety.
Its name is a tribute to this winery’s first productions. They say that, of all the vats filled with wine, the one marked with the number 61 was the best of all. So, the first wines from this winery were given this number and their first commercial brand was born.
To make 61 Vermouth Verdejo, Verdejo grapes are harvested by hand. 50% of the wine is fermented in barrels and the rest is made up of young wine of the same variety. That means this vermouth takes on all of the personality of the grape variety, balanced with some typical local botanicals.
61 Vermouth Verdejo is the perfect vermouth to enjoy in the spring or summer especially. This aperitif is marked by all the qualities that make the Verdejo variety one of the most popular.
