About Vieux Château Certan

Vieux Château Certan is a wood-aged red wine made by Vieux Château Certan with the Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varieties in the prestigious AOC Pomerol, in Bordeaux (France).
 
Owned by the Thienpont family, Vieux Château Certan is one of the oldest wine estates in Pomerol, dating back to the year 1700. This estate’s vines have been cultivated, generation after generation, with meticulous dedication, which has earned them some excellent reviews from world-renowned wine experts.
 
Vieux Château Certan is a Grand Vin that is produced from very old vines, aged over 55 years old, grown on an incredible plateau of clay and gravel soils. These vines are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture with low yields and protecting the natural balance of the terroir. When the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are harvested manually. 
 
In the winery, Vieux Château Certan is vinified in a pure and natural way. Firstly, the grapes are meticulously selected and once they have been crushed, fermentation begins at a controlled temperature. The wine is then aged for 18 months in 225-litre French oak barrels before being bottled. 
 
A coupage of the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties, Vieux Château Certan is a classic from one of the most prestigious wine regions in the world. Wonderful fruit, fine structure and a vibrant finish.

Vieux Château Certan 2022 is a concentrated red wine with a rich aromatic palette of ripe red fruits, floral notes, and hints of spices and noble wood. On the palate, it is velvety, deep, and very harmonious. A medium-bodied wine with a fine concentration of flavors, well-integrated acidity, and a long and persistent finish.
2016 Vieux Château Certan 2016 is a concentrated red wine with elegant and perfumed aromas of ripe black fruits, floral notes of violets and subtle hints of chocolate and spices. On the palate it is very elegant with a fresh entry, a flavoursome and velvety mid-palate and a well-defined fine structure. The finish is vibrant, long and persistent. A wine with a long life ahead of it, perfect for holding onto for a while.
2015 Vieux Château Certan 2015 is a concentrated red wine with intense aromas of deep red and purplish stone fruit fragrances, herbaceous notes of lavender and mint and hints of spice. On the palate it is powerful but not excessively heavy. A fresh, intense and flavoursome wine. It reveals a bright acidity that makes it light and a sweet fruit that adds power. The finish is lingering and very pleasant.
2014 Vieux Château Certan 2014 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of small black fruits, notes of wild flowers and hints of oak. On the palate it is medium-bodied with fresh acidity and fine, velvety tannins. An elegant, delicate and very fruity wine with a lovely fresh and vibrant finish.
