If there is a King Midas of modern Chilean viticulture, it is undoubtedly Augustin Huneeus. Born in Santiago de Chile, he has dedicated his entire life to the vine and wine. A winery that leads, a winery that succeeds. Projects like Concha y Toro, Caliterra, Errazuriz and Quintessa have become world-famous brands. In 1990, after some time in exile, he returned to his homeland and was the first to identify the Casablanca Valley as a region of international quality wine production. It is there that Veramonte was set up and began to produce a broad range of wines expressing their place of origin.
One of the most successful ones is Veramonte Pinot Noir Reserva, a 100% organic single-variety Pinot Noir red wine that starts life at the foot of a native forest 30 kilometres east of the Pacific Ocean. Organic agriculture is practiced without the use of chemical products and the grapes are harvested by hand when the grapes are at optimum ripeness. In the winery, the grapes are selected and destemmed and then fermented at a controlled temperature. The wine is then aged in neutral French oak barrels (without toasting) for 10 months.
Now part of the established González Byass group, Veramonte is the first winery to show the world the winemaking attributes of the Casablanca Valley. Veramonte Pinot Noir Reserva is one of these gems at a very attractive price.
Veramonte Pinot Noir Reserva 2019 is a smooth red wine with aromas of raspberry, cherry and forest fruits. On the palate it is elegant, smooth and rounded. A wine with a good balance between acidity and tannins, a silky palate and a round, fresh finish.
