Characteristics Schloss Gobelsburg Grüner Veltliner Lamm
Schloss Gobelsburg Grüner Veltliner Lamm is a barrel-fermented white wine made by the Schloss Gobelsburg winery with the Grüner Veltliner variety in the Kamptal area.
Schloss Gobelsburg started out in a Cistercian monastery dating back to 1171, surrounded by 35 hectares of vineyards, laid out on terraces and slopes in Kamptal. And although it is without doubt considered one of the oldest wineries in the Austrian Danube, it did not become property of the Gobelsburgs until 1996. This family was keen to maintain the Cistercian tradition when it comes to making wine, with noble elaborations and no machinery.
The Schloss Gobelsburg Grüner Veltliner Lamm grape comes from a 3.5-hectare vineyard where the vines have an average of 40 years, a yield of 40 hl/ha. and are planted in Loess and clay soil. Following the guidelines of Willi Bründlmayer, one of Austria's most prestigious winemakers, they use environmentally-friendly agriculture. The harvest is manual and, when the grape reaches the winery, it is fermented and aged in Austrian Manhartsberg oak barrels for 4 months.
Schloss Gobelsburg Grüner Veltliner Lamm is a white wine with a powerful personality that displays the full concentration of the fruit without losing the elegance that the barrel gives it.

Schloss Gobelsburg Grüner Veltliner Lamm 2016 is an aromatic white wine with delicate notes of peach, melon and apple. On the palate it is powerful, fruity and sweet with a salty mineral finish.
