About Rotllan Torra Reserva
Rotllan Torra Reserva is a red wine made with the Cabernet Sauvignon, Mazuelo and Garnacha Tinta varieties by Rotllan Torra in the D.O.Q. Priorat.
The Rotllan family, wine distributors in Penedès, came to the D.O.Q. Priorat just before the Denomination really took off. They began making their first wines in 1984 in the town of Torroja del Priorat (Tarragona), in some original facilities used by the 17th-century Scala Dei Carthusian monks. Now, Rotllan Torra wines are characterised by their classic and bold Priorat personality.
Each of the varieties that make up Rotllan Torra Reserva come from the winery's own vineyards, which are over 25 years old and planted in the characteristic licorella soil terraces of Priorat. The harvest is carried out manually into small boxes and the grapes are selected in the field itself.
Once the clusters reach the winery, they are destemmed and placed in stainless steel tanks. The must is macerated and fermented at a controlled temperature between 24 and 28ºC. Rotllan Torra Reserva rests in American oak barrels for 24 months and in the bottle for a further 24 months.
Rotllan Torra Reserva is a red wine that maintains the power of the Cabernet, Cariñena and Garnacha Tinta varieties with the warmth of the barrel.
