Robertson Winery Pinotage is a single-variety, barrel-aged red wine made with the Pinotage local variety by Robertson Winery in the Western Cape South Coast.
Robertson Winery was established in 1941 in an old abandoned church in the Roberston Valley with the aim of producing quality wines from the 7.5 vineyards that local farmers have been cultivating for more than six generations. An exceptional location that gives rise to a quality grape and world-renowned wines.
The Robertson Winery Pinotage grapes come from 35 vineyards that are located in an area with several streams. These are strains planted in lime and clay rich soils, which allows a regulated irrigation deficit to control vine vigour and berry size. Once the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are harvested.
In the winery, after selecting and destemming the grapes, the Robertson Winery Pinotage undergoes alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Afterwards, the wine ages for three months in oak barrels. It is then stabilised before being bottled.
Robertson Winery Pinotage is a characteristic new world red wine, made with a local grape; Pinotage. The result is a wine with well integrated fruit and barrel and a delicate finish.
