Preludio de Sei Solo is a red wine from the Ribera del Duero region produced by Bodegas Sei Solo. It is made using only Tinto Fino grapes.
The grapes that are used to make Preludio de Sei Solo come from nine small plots situated in the locality of La Horra, in the province of Burgos. The vines, which are around 60-90 years old, are of a very low yield. It’s for this that no more than 7,000 of this wine is made per vintage.
On arrival at the winery, the grapes are pass through the process of being desetemmed, followed by undergoing cold maceration. Then fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in small wooden tanks with little capacity.
Finally, Preludio de Sei Solo is aged for 18 months in used oak barrels.
Sei Solo is the personal project of Javier Zaccagini: the ex-president of Consejo Regulador Ribera del Duero and co-founder of Aalto. The name of this wine pays hommage to one of the owner of the wineries favourite works: “Sei Solo a Violino senza Basso accompagnato” by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Preludio de Sei Solo 2018 is a mature red wine with aromas of stewed fruit, balsamic notes and hints of toasted wood. On the palate it is unctuous, broad and enveloping. It reveals polished tannins, great fruitiness and a deliciously spicy finish.
