About Pierre Gimonnet Cuis Premier Cru
Pierre Gimonnet Cuis Premier Cru is a classic blended sparkling wine without a vintage made by Gimonnet. This is a family of artisan winegrowers who have been connected to the AOC Champagne for more than two and a half centuries. Their aim is to showcase the purest expression of the Chardonnayvariety.
The Pierre Gimonnet family has been making wines since 1750 in Cuis, in the Côte des Blanc. This is where, generation after generation, the family has become experts of the Chardonnay variety in Grand and Premier Crus terroirs. But their true style was defined in 1955 when Michel Gimonnet decided to make Blanc de Blancs and produced a vibrant, mineral and refreshing champagne.
Pierre Gimonnet Cuis Premier Cru comes from 14 hectares classified as Premier Cru in the village of Cuis. These vines are planted in calcareous soils and are traditionally cultivated, limiting the yield to obtain more concentrated grapes. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
Pierre Gimonnet Cuis Premier Cru is made with a blend of reserve wines from different vintages. These base wines have been aged in oak barrels for 6-8 months and, once blended, they undergo a second fermentation in the bottle and are aged for 18-30 months in oak barrels. Finally the bottle is disgorged and a little expedition liqueur is added (8 g/l).
Pierre Gimonnet Cuis Premier Cru is a blanc de blancs with a unique typicity and freshness. A classic no-vintage blend that represents the style of a century-old Champagne house.
Pierre Gimonnet Cuis Premier Cru is a fruity sparkling wine with aromas of citrus, white and stone fruits and hints of chalk. On the palate it is fresh, vibrant and very elegant. A medium-bodied champagne with good acidity and a mineral finish. |
