About Pezas da Portela

Pezas da Portela Barrica Blanco is a white wine from Valdeorras prepared by the Valdesil cellar. Located in inner Galicia, in the town of Vilamartín of Valdeorras (Ourense), this winery is known for its premium white wines made from very old varieties of Godello.

Pezas da Portela Barrica Blanco is 100% made from Godello, a native variety of Valdeorras. The grapes come from very old vines over 50 years old located in 11 small plots at 500m of altitude. The vines are planted on slopes of slate soil.

For processing the grapes are harvested and transported to the winery in 20kg boxes.

In the winery a brief maceration takes place prior to fermentation with yeasts.

Once in the winemaking process, the wine is aged in oak for about 6 months.

A complex and elegant wine to drink now or keep for 3-5 years.

2012 Good entry, fresh and creamy. Tasty and expressive, very mineral and with very good acidity. Long, fruity finish.

Reddish yellow with green hues. Clean, bright, with glyceric tears.

Great aromatic intensity, floral aromas and white fruit. Marked mineral background with lightly toasted touches.
2011

This Valdeorras white wine has a very good, wide and bulky attack as well as a powerful, tasty and unctuous mid palate. It has very expressive mineral notes and a very long finish with fruit notes and nice toasted touches.
A very original and elegant white wine that is pleasant to all the senses.



Pale yellow with a greenish border. Bright with a good glyceric tear.

Very good intensity. It has a marked varietal expression, with its characteristic white fruit and floral notes which are displayed in good balance with the elegant toasted and mineral notes. While all these aromas are very subtle on first nosing, they gain intensity as the wine opens up.
2010 After a bulky attack, this wine is unctuous, rich and very dense on the palate, filling the mouth with nice fruity sensations, lightly toasted aromas and a refreshing mineral note. Profound acidity balancing the set. Long and persistent finish.

Straw-yellow colour with greenish reflections. Clean and very bright. Elegant, fine tears show on the glass.

Intensely aromatic. Clean, fruity and floral nose. Once warmed up, it exudes notes of its ageing. A subtle mineral note at the end adds an elegant touch.

A wine that gains intensity and complexity as it is opened. Intense aromas of ripe white fruit (apple, pineapple) accompanied by strong mineral notes with a touch of anise, nuts and notes of fine wood.
