Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola Giró de Abargues is an organic, barrel-aged red wine made with the Giró variety in the DO Alicante (Spain) by Pepe Mendoza.
A passionate winegrower and a leader in viticulture and oenology in Alicante, Pepe Mendoza and his wife Pepa Agulló set up their own project. Under the brand Casa Agrícola, they work to bottle the purity of the Mediterranean landscape with the local varieties found in the Alicante region of Marina Alta.
The grapes used to make Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola Giró de Abargues come from old vines planted on old terraces and with protection from the Sierra de Bernia. These vines lie at a low altitude and enjoy a unique Mediterranean climate. They are cultivated using organic agriculture without the use of chemical products and the harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
Once the best grapes have been selected to make Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola Giró de Abargues, they are vinified with minimal intervention. Firstly, they undergo a spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and then the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.
