About Patrick Bouju M

Sometimes, it takes little more than a single letter to pique one's curiosity. On Patrick Bouju's label, that "M" appears as a subtle, almost secretive gesture, as if inviting one to draw closer without saying too much. There are no loud promises or lengthy speeches: just a hint of something vibrant, honest, asking to be discovered slowly; the allure of minimal intervention.
 
Behind it is Patrick Bouju, in Auvergne (France), one of those names that moves fluidly within the world of natural wine. From there, he works among the vineyards of the Loire, always with producers who share a similar understanding of the land: unpretentious, with respect and attentiveness. Patrick Bouju M originates from old vines of melon de bourgogne (also known as muscadet) that thrive in clay and limestone soils, where the landscape seems to set the pace more than any intervention.
 
In the winery, everything follows a straightforward logic. The grapes are gently pressed to preserve their freshness, and the fermentation progresses naturally, guided by what is already on the fruit's skin. The wine rests on its lees, gaining texture and presence over time, until it becomes something more rounded, more expansive, without losing its original rhythm.
