About Movia Gredic Friulano
Goriška Brda is home to numerous vineyards, orchards, wineries and estates, all of which have contributed to the area’s development and reputation. A real paradise in Slovenia just a stone’s throw away from Italy. This border region has changed hands over time depending on the outcome of various wars and is now considered one of the most fascinating wine regions in the world. This region is the birthplace of wines like those made by Aleš Kristančič, winemaker at the historic Movia winery, who has been described as ‘Slovenia's wine genius’. Guided by a strong organic and biodynamic convictions in the vineyard and minimal intervention in the winery, he produces some essential wines for those looking to discover what Slovenia can do.
Movia Gredic Friulano, a white wine made in the Brda denomination, is made from 25-year-old vines of the Tocchi Friulano variety. Cultivated using organic treatments only, this wine showcases the best expression of the terroir. A pure grape that is harvested late and vinified firstly in 50 hl stainless steel tanks with native yeasts and then aged in 30 hl Slovenian oak barrels for 12 months. Finally, it rests in the bottle for 4 months before being released for sale.
The result of all this work is Movia Gredic Friulano. A very pleasant white wine with an extraordinary aging potential. The best introduction to the eighth generation of Movia. You are in for a pleasant surprise.
2018 |
Movia Gredic Friulano 2018 is an aromatic white wine with an intense nose of yellow fruit, wild flowers and mineral nuances. On the palate it is fresh, dry and savoury. A wine with energetic acidity, a pleasant mid-palate and a long almond finish. |
