About Mazzei Zisola Azisa Grillo Sicilia

If there is an Italian family with a historic winemaking heritage, it is undoubtedly the Marchesi Mazzei family. Their story began in Tuscany many centuries ago, specifically in the medieval village of Castello di Fonterutoli, and has been preserved across 24 generations. A rich cultural legacy that they have not only maintained but also sought to expand beyond their native Tuscany. Thus, under the name Zisola, they have embarked on a new venture in the town of Noto, in the province of Syracuse, to produce Sicilian wines of quality and character.

Among the wines they produce, their white Zisola Azisa Grillo Sicilia stands out, a wine whose name Azisa means "splendid" in Sicilian dialect and is made with the native Grillo variety. These vines are situated at 130 meters above sea level on limestone soils with a South/East exposure. Carefully selected and hand-harvested, once in the winery, the grapes are destemmed and pressed. The resulting must ferments at a controlled temperature of 15°C and then the wine undergoes a brief period of refinement between steel and glass tanks.

Under the adjective "splendid," Zisola Azisa Grillo Sicilia presents itself as a white wine within the DOC Grillo Sicilia that reflects all the Mediterranean character and the extensive winemaking expertise of the Mazzei family. A refreshing delight indeed!
