Los Loros Listán Negro is a barrel-aged red wine made by Juan Francisco Fariña Pérez with the native Listán Negro variety in the Güínar Valley, in the Canary Islands.
Juan Francisco Fariña Pérez is a centennial family winery that had been making bulk wines generation after generation. However, in 1999 they decided to produce bottled wines. These are made from their own vineyards planted with native varieties and worked with maximum respect and minimum intervention.
Los Loros Listán Negro comes from El Borujo, the Fariña family’s estate in the town of Arafo (Santa Cruz de Tenerife). These are vines planted in sand, clay and granite soils and cultivated using respectful agriculture to avoid damaging the natural balance of the terroir. An artisan work that concludes in the vineyard with a manual harvest in 15 kg boxes.
When the Los Loros Listán Negro grapes reach the winery, they are destemmed and crushed to macerate and ferment spontaneously in stainless steel tanks at room temperature. The wine is then transferred to used wood barrels where the wine ages for 6-7 months. It is then bottled without stabilising or filtering.
Los Loros Listán Negro is a wine made with the Canary Islands’ quintessential variety. A fresh and easy-to-drink wine, a true reflection of the Güímar valley.
