About Joseph Drouhin Beaujolais Nouveau
There are many wine festivals, but if there is one that is eagerly awaited every third Thursday of November, it is undoubtedly the Beaujolais Nouveau. A vin de primeur made from gamay grapes produced in the Beaujolais region of Burgundy (France) which, although it is always made to celebrate the end of the harvest, since the creation of the Beaujolais AOC in 1937, it cannot be sold until the date of the celebration. Joseph Drouhin, a winery that puts its heart and soul into Burgundy wine in all its diversity, has always been deeply involved with the Beaujolais region. With more than 80 hectares of vineyards and nearly 90 different appellations in its catalogue, it is not surprising that this winery, which has been in the hands of the Drouhin family for the past 140 years, is a pioneer in bottling and selling Beaujolais nouveau. This Joseph Drouhin Beaujolais Nouveau is a clear example.
Sourced from a selection of plots located in different communes of Beaujolais, Joseph Drouhin Beaujolais Nouveau is the result of listening to nature. Under an organic and biodynamic approach, they show the utmost respect for the soil, the vine and the environment. The soils are pink granite and low yields are sought. Once the grapes are harvested at the optimum moment of ripeness, they are vinified in the cellar following the traditional Beaujolais method. Semi-carbonic maceration in bunches for 4 to 10 days and a short aging period of 2 months in stainless steel tanks.
Fresh, simple and tantalising, Joseph Drouhin Beaujolais Nouveau is a basic wine not to be missed. Intended to be enjoyed young, this is a biodynamic de primeur wine that stands out for its great simplicity.
