This is the tale of a Victorian farmer named John who, upon the death of his father when he was but 14 years old, had to fend for himself during a challenging era when youths were sent to work in factories or mines.
 
John Walker, (better known as Johnnie) then demonstrated his intelligence and prowess. He sold the farm where he was raised and with the proceeds, he opened a grocery store bearing his name, Johnnie Walker, where, among other items, whisky was sold.
 
During that period, only single malt whiskies from a single distillery were available, which were often of very poor quality. Johnnie realized this and began blending different types of malts to offer his customers a superior and unparalleled product. This skill led him to become the pioneer of Blended Scotch Whisky, a business opportunity that was also highly profitable. Since then, in keeping with the brand's famous motto, “keep walking”, Johnnie Walker whiskies have continued their march towards global success.
