About Heras Cordón Vendimia Seleccionada

Heras Cordón Vendimia Seleccionada is a red wine coupage of predominantly Tempranillo, accompanied by a small amount of the Graciano and Mazuelo varieties, produced by Bodegas y Viñedos Heras Cordón in the DOCa. Rioja in Spain.

This wine is made with grapes from 25 to 37 year old vines growing in the towns of Laguardia, Elciego and Lapuebla in Rioja Alavesa, and Cenicero and Fuenmayor in La Rioja Alta. These plots lie 550 metres above sea level and have clayey and calcareous soils that are very stony.

During the harvest, the bunches are harvested manually and transported in 20 kg boxes. When they reach the winery, they are placed in stainless steel tanks where they ferment with their native yeasts at a controlled temperature of 30ºC and with daily pump overs and cap plunges.

The resulting wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and then ages for 13 months in French and American oak barrels.

Heras Cordón Vendimia Seleccionada is an affordable and well-balanced red wine that showcases the best of Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa. This wine is made through hard work and with all the love that Bodegas y Viñedos Heras Cordón have for the landscape of La Rioja.

Heras Cordón Vendimia Seleccionada 2017 is a red wine with aromas of red fruits and sweet spices like vanilla on the nose, with notes of milky coffee and a hint of graphite and sandalwood. On the palate it is unctuous and elegant with an obvious presence of red fruits mixed with chocolate and roasted notes. A silky red wine, with a good balance between fruit, tannins and acidity.
