Heinrich Roter Traminer Freyheit is a single-variety Roter Traminer orange wine produced by Weingut Heinrich in Weinland Österreich in Burgenland, Austria.
The Heinrich Roter Traminer Freyheit wine is made with grape bunches from plots with soils composed of fossil-rich calcareous sandstone and eroded shale. These vineyards lie on the eastern “Kollern” slope in the Leitha Mountains, in Breitenbrunn.
The harvest is carried out manually at the end of August. Fermentation takes place with native yeasts and the must macerates for 19 days with its skins. The resulting wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged for around 17 months on its fine lees in used 500-litre oak barrels. Finally, the wine is bottled without being filtered or adding sulphur.
Freyheit means freedom and the Heinrich Roter Traminer Freyheit wine brings a lighthearted simplicity, an opulence of exotic fruit and a pronounced touch of fresh hops. On the nose, the intense aromas suggest sweetness but the palate expresses its rustic and bright power.
