Graham’s 20 Year Old Tawny Port is a fortified Port wine, made with the Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Tinta Amarela and Touriga Franca varieties by Graham’s Porto, in the Douro Valley, Portugal.
Graham’s 20 Year Old Tawny Port is a fortified blend of selected wines that have spent an average of 20 years aging in oak barrels. Graham’s 20 Year Old Tawny Port is the perfect balance where it is clear to see the art of blending, which is not only about knowing how to choose the wines to make up the final blend, but is also about the art of choosing casks and the art of aging.
The Master Blender is in charge of finding the right balance between younger Port wines and those that have aged for longer. Graham’s winery is also one of the few that has its own cooperage where they make the barrels to age their wines depending on the characteristics they want to bring out in each of them, which is what makes aging such an art.
Graham’s Porto is a hundred-year-old winery that started as a textile trader but in 1820, they accepted 27 barrels of Port wine as payment for a debt. This prompted the Graham brothers to switch their focus to producing quality fortified wines. Today, the winery continues as an independent company owned by the Symington family, which gives them full control of every process involved in the production of their wines, from the vineyard to bottling. They have strict quality controls to make sure they create excellent wines that are appreciated all around the world.
