Geltz Zilliken Butterfly Riesling is a monovarietal white wine made from Riesling rated as a VDP Mosel-Saar-Ruwer and produced by Weingut Forstmeister Geltz Zilliken.

Weingut Forstmeister Geltz Zilliken is a family winery with over 270 years of history. It produces Rieslings that are incredibly rich and mineral, with a low alcohol level and fantastic acidity. It vinifies its more than 10 hectares, planted exclusively with Riesling, in old foudres and barrels.

The soils of the vineyards for Geltz Zilliken Butterfly Riesling are composed of slate and diabase, made of black granite. It is vinified in neutral foudres so that the wood does not detract from the aromas or mask the flavours that the grape offers.

Geltz Zilliken Butterfly Riesling is a fresh and explosive wine, with an acidity that compensates for its slight residual sugar. It is juicy and makes your mouth water while you drink it. It can be enjoyed right now, but it is noticeable that it has good ageing potential.

Its bouquet is playful, brimming with fruity scents (ripe peach, grapefruit, yellow apple), intertwined with spicy and peppery undertones, complemented by floral hints (white lilac, orange blossom). On the palate, it is harmonious and restrained, boasting a lusciously rich acidity.
2017 Geltz Zilliken Butterfly Riesling 2017 is a wine with fragrant aromas of apple, melon and apricot combined with honeysuckle, wild roses and spices like savory. On the palate the citrus touches and elegant structure stand out.
