Gaja Ca' Marcanda Bolgheri Rosso Magari is a wood-aged red wine made by Angelo Gaja with the Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties in the DOC Bolgheri Rosso, Tuscany (Italy).
Angelo Gaja, the great Italian winegrower who revolutionised Piedmont by leaving behind traditional methods in favour of revolutionary new techniques, started a new project in Tuscany in 1996, in the famous Bolgheri district. The name of the winery, Ca’ Marcanda, means “house of endless negotiations”, and refers to the long hours the winemaker spent negotiating the sale of the estate with the previous owners. One of the most coveted lands in the area where he mainly plants noble foreign varieties and produces wines of the highest quality.
Gaja Ca' Marcanda Bolgheri Rosso Magari comes from vineyards planted on soils rich in silt and clay, and limestone and clay. The vines are cultivated using respectful agriculture and biodynamic treatments that will not affect the natural balance of the terroir and, once the grapes are ripe, they are harvested by hand.
In the winery, each variety used to make Gaja Ca' Marcanda Bolgheri Rosso Magari is fermented separately. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and is finally blended.
With the name Magari, which in Italian means “maybe…”, Gaja Ca' Marcanda Bolgheri Rosso Magari is a majestic new generation Tuscan wine. A powerful and elegant blend created by one of the legends of Italian oenology.
Gaja Ca' Marcanda Bolgheri Magari 2017 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of black fruit, floral notes and spicy, balsamic and mineral hints. On the palate it is intense, fresh and velvety. A wine with a lot of personality, well-integrated acidity and a long, persistent finish.
