About G.D. Vajra Luigi Baudana Barolo Cerreta
G.D. Vajra Luigi Baudana Barolo Cerreta is a wood-aged red wine made with the Nebbiolo variety in the DOCG Barolo, in Piedmont (Italy).
Francesca, Isidoro and Guiseppe, the three children of the famous couple Aldo and Milena Vajra of G.D. Vajra joined Luigi Baudana’s endearing project in Serralunga d'Alba. This is a small winery with only 2.6 hectares of land and that seeks authenticity through experience.
G.D. Vajra Luigi Baudana Barolo Cerreta comes from a vineyard in Serralunga. These vines were planted in the 1970s on white loam and reddish clay soils. They are cultivated using environmentally-friendly agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.
In the winery, the G.D. Vajra Luigi Baudana Barolo Cerreta grapes ferment for around 35-40 days in an oak barrel with a gentle pumping over. Aging takes place in Slavonian oak barrels for about 32 months.
Made by a truly intrepid winemaker, G.D. Vajra Luigi Baudana Barolo Cerreta is a wine that brings new energy while respecting the long Barolo tradition. A wine with a long and noble history.
2016 | G.D. Vajra Luigi Baudana Barolo Cerreta 2016 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of plums, sweet cherries and blackberries, balsamic notes and mineral touches. On the palate it has fresh acidity, a silky mid-palate and lively and voluminous tannins. A medium-bodied, deep wine with a long and persistent finish. |
