Fuentenebro 2022 is a red wine where the initial impression evokes fresh wild berries, such as currants and tart strawberries, with a clarity that invites a leisurely approach. On the nose, there are also mentholated notes and a soft undertone of cream that provides a clean, almost creamy sensation, without losing freshness. On the palate, it is agile and fluid, with a lively acidity that sets the pace and a very fine tannin that barely hints at itself, leaving a pleasant and smooth texture. The wood is subtle, almost in the background, while the ensemble progresses lightly, directly, and is very easy to enjoy, like a conversation that flows effortlessly.

About Fuentenebro

What if Ribera del Duero wasn't as serious as it's made out to be? There are wines that arrive with the label of the classic, yet once tasted, they seem slightly disconcerting, as if they choose not to behave entirely as expected.
 
Fuentenebro originates precisely there, in that less solemn version of Ribera del Duero, crafted by Bodegas Señorío de Nava. Old vineyards spread between Soria and Burgos, at over 900 metres altitude, where the climate is more extreme and the elevation compels the tempranillo grape to refine without losing its character. It's not a textbook Ribera; it possesses its own distinct flair.
 
In the glass, Fuentenebro presents itself straightforwardly, with juicy red fruit and depth, yet without heaviness. Subtle spicy nuances emerge, a hint of stone, and a freshness that allows it to move with ease. It's one of those reds that doesn't require much explanation: it enters cleanly, with vigour, and remains at a very pleasant point between the serious and the easygoing.
 
Fuentenebro is a wine that thrives without ceremony, at an impromptu meal or a long table where no one is concerned about the label. More conversation than speech, more enjoyment than solemnity.
