About Vivanco Reserva
Vivanco Reserva is a barrel-aged red wine made in the D.O.Ca. Rioja by the Vivanco winery with the Tempranillo and Graciano varieties.
The name Vivanco has been linked to wine since the early twentieth century, when Pedro Vivanco González began winemaking the village of Alberite (La Rioja). Now it is the fourth generation who are carrying the family tradition in Briones (Rioja Alta) with a completely underground winery and an impressive museum of wine culture stretching over 4,000 m2 and including wine-themed paintings from great artists like Picasso, Miró, Sorolla, Dalí and Tapies.
Vivanco Reserva comes from a selection of vineyards located in the village of Briones. These are strains with an average age of 35 years planted in clay-calcareous soils. They use conventional agriculture with sustainable practices that respect the natural environment. When the grape reaches optimum ripeness, it is harvested by hand in small boxes.
In the winery, all Vivanco Reserva grapes lie in a cold chamber for 24 hours before passing over the selection table. Each variety is vinified separately. To do this, each variety is gently pressed and the resulting must is transferred by gravity into small French oak vats. There it macerates with its skins and ferments at a controlled temperature of 30ºC with light pump overs for 20 days. The wine then ages in new and one year old French and American oak barrels for 24 months and before bottling, it is refined for a few months in French oak vats. Finally, it rests in the bottle 2 years before being sold.
Vivanco Reserva is a safe choice for those who love this world renowned denomination. Flavoursome, complex and deep, it is a pure reflection of the wonderful Rioja Alta terroir.
