About Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc Te Muna Road Vineyard
Terry Peabody, a native of the East Coast of the United States, was able to build an entire empire with his waste management and transportation company in his country as well as in Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. As if that wasn’t enough, Peabody wasn’t very convinced of the legacy he was leaving to his children; so he decided to broaden his horizons and start new businesses. And his sector of choice was wine. So, in 1993, he began a search that took him to America and France, but didn’t meet his main objective: to find a territory where no vineyard had ever been planted. With this in mind, his journey ended up taking him literally to the other side of the world, to New Zealand, specifically to the Gimblett Gravels wine district in Hawke’s Bay (southeast of the North Island). Still this wasn’t enough, and again his interest took him further south on this island, to the Wairarapa region (the southernmost area). This is where he found the Te Muna Road Vineyard, about 7 km from Martinborough, where Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc Te Muna Road Vineyard is born.
Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc Te Muna Road Vineyard is a young and fresh white, 100% Sauvignon Blanc, with a very light aging of just 4 months, which emerges from the lower terrace of this vineyard. To be more precise, Te Muna is divided into several terraces: the upper one (with old, stony and clayey soils) and the lower one (with stony soils interspersed with limestone). These factors, together with the cool climate, guarantee the production of mineral and very intense wines.
The production process for Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc Te Muna Road Vineyard is tremendously careful. In the winery, the work begins with the destemming of the grapes, where a minimal amount stays with the stems, putting the whole grapes into stainless steel tanks where fermentation takes place with native yeasts. From there it goes directly to used French oak barrels, where it ages on the lees for 4 months. Finally, Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc Te Muna Road Vineyard is bottled after filtration. Although the Marinborough region is particularly famous for its Pinot Noir, it hasn’t forgotten about Sauvignon Blanc either. There is nothing better than opening a bottle of Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc Te Muna Road Vineyard to prove this.
2022 | Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc Te Muna Road Vineyard 2022 unveils a symphony of fresh and tropical scents. As one draws closer, distinct notes of lime and passion fruit emerge, followed by hints of ripe papaya, heralding a succulent tasting experience. On the palate, its creamy texture astonishes, offering an impeccable equilibrium between zest and smoothness. This youthful white wine is a definitive expression of the fruit, perfectly suited for those in pursuit of vibrancy and robust aromas in their glass. |
