About Allegrini Corte Giara Pinot Grigio
The Allegrini family has been at the heart of the history of Fumane and Valpolicella since the 16th century and Franco Allegrini, one of the most influential winemakers in northern Italy, has always been linked to agricultural development and rural traditions. Having recently passed away, his loss has been devastating for lovers of modern amarone. One of Italy’s most mythical wines and perhaps the most famous of Veneto which makes use of non-native varieties and is freed from aging in oak, Allegrini differs in form and in results from the traditional method. But as well as this great innovation, this great winemaker created a wide variety of wines throughout his fruitful career. One of his creations was the Corte Giara range, a line of modern and eclectic wines which mixes classic wines with other international varietals. And all of them are great value for money.
One of these wines is Corte Giara Pinot Grigio, a single-variety Pinot Grigio produced near Lake Garda, in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in vineyards located 200-250 metres above sea level. These vines have an average age of 25 years old and are planted on low density moraine soils. The grapes are harvested once they reach optimum ripeness and in the winery the whole bunches undergo a gentle pressing. The resulting must then ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. It is left to refine here on the lees for 4 months and the wine undergoes partial malolactic fermentation. Finally, it rests for another 2 months in the bottle before being sold.
A revolutionary on the Italian scene, Allegrini wasn’t afraid of anything. Like asking how to improve the DOC Pinot Grigio Delle Venezie in terms of quantity and quality. Corte Giara Pinot Grigio is proof of this. A deliciously fine and extremely pleasant white wine.

2021 | Corte Giara Pinot Grigio 2021 is an aromatic white wine with fragrant notes of white fruit accompanied by hints of wild flowers and smoky nuances. On the palate it is dry, fresh and very pleasant. A medium-bodied wine with satisfactory acidity and a simple, fine mid-palate. |
