About Comando G Peña La Mora 1er

Undoubtedly, expansive vineyards are not the domain of Comando G. With a total of five hectares, this pair of vintners favour small plots, just a couple of hectares each. In their latest acquisition, a mere 1.17 hectares in the village of Navatalgordo in the heart of Spain, they craft Comando G Peña La Mora 1er, a site-specific wine that will linger in your memory.
 
The slate soils, rich in quartz, and the altitude of 1,200 metres above sea level are the elements that make this wine one of the most distinctive and refreshing reds you can find. Few vines are like these, over 75 years old, from which the Garnacha clusters used in the vinification of Comando G Peña La Mora 1er are born.
 
Following manual harvesting, Comando G Peña La Mora 1er is taken to the winery and allowed to ferment with native yeasts and spontaneously. After racking, it is left to macerate for two months, without aggressive pump-overs, until it is pressed and the wine is separated from the skins. Comando G Peña La Mora 1er will be at its best after 16 months, once it has rested in oak foudres and concrete vats.
