About Cellers Unió Perlat Negre

If the D.O. Montsant was just one wine, it would have to be a red. For as long as anyone can remember, 90% of this area’s production has been based on red varieties, mainly Grenache. This star variety is joined by others like Mazuela and Syrah. And together they are perfect in the production of Cellers Unió Perlat Negre.

With more than ten months in oak barrels, Cellers Unió Perlat Negre is a spectacle, and its creators are none other than the winemakers of the famous Cellers Unió, who have been completely dedicated to the vineyard for more than 70 years. This cooperative, which brings together much of the profession’s common knowledge, is present in six denominations of origin. To make Cellers Unió Perlat Negre, they work in the D.O. Montsant. Located right in the centre of Catalonia, surrounding the famous D.O. Ca Priorat, this denomination is one of the most promising, quickly becoming one of the most recognised (and largely thanks to its reds).

In general, this is an area with a mainly Mediterranean climate, where the continental influence is strongly felt. In general, winters are cold and summers are dry and hot, with rainfall in spring and autumn between 400 - 700 litres/m2. The soils are very varied, with a mixture of rocks and geological sediments, including slate, granite, clay and limestone. Normally, the red wines of the D.O.
