About Alzinger Grüner Veltliner Loibenberg Smaragd
Alzinger Grüner Veltliner Loibenberg Smaragd is a white wine made by the Alzingeren family winery in the Wachau Valley (Austria) with the Grüner Veltliner variety.
Alzinger is a family winery that stopped selling grapes in order to make their own wines when Leo took over in 1970. An honest and open work that reflects the roots of a valley with the influence of the Danube River. Along with his son, Leo Jr., Leo continues to work with the same philosophy. They are still working to reclaim the qualities of the Grüner Veltliner and Riesling varieties all over the world.
Alzinger Grüner Veltliner Loibenberg Smaragd comes from vineyards located in the warmest area of Wachau with gneiss rock soils. The Danube regulates extreme temperature contrasts and cold northern winds. These make for unique and complex conditions for viticulture that Alzinger has learned how to harness through traditional manual agriculture.
Once in the winery, the Alzinger Grüner Veltliner Loibenberg Smaragd grape is pressed and macerated for 24 hours. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out with selected yeasts at a controlled temperature. No oak barrels are used.
Alzinger Grüner Veltliner Loibenberg Smaragd is a dry and very elegant white wine that will take you right to the idyllic surroundings of the Wachau Valley.
2020 | Alzinger Grüner Veltliner Loibenberg Smaragd 2020 is a delightfully crisp white wine on the nose, featuring nuances of stone fruit, mineral undertones, and hints of green herbs. On the palate, it is lean, subtly zesty, and exceptionally refreshing. This wine boasts a radiant acidity, pronounced mineral notes, and an expansive finish. |

2016 | Alzinger Grüner Veltliner Loibenberg Smaragd 2016 is an aromatic white wine with tropical fruit, apricot notes and prairie herbs. On the palate it is a sweet and exotic mixture, with delicate acidity and a harmonious finish. |
