Originating from the picturesque villages of Barra and Castrelo, in the Salnés Valley, it perfectly harmonises the Caíño Tinto, Espadeiro, and Mencía grape varieties. About Albamar O Esteiro

Albamar O Esteiro is a red wine crafted by Bodegas Albamar in Cambados (Pontevedra), within the DO Rías Baixas appellation.

Bodegas Albamar is a family-run winery that began producing wines in the early 1990s, but it wasn't until 2006 that Xurxo Alba Padín, one of the sons, took the helm and rebranded the winery as Albamar.

The vineyard of Bodegas Albamar is located in the Valle de Salnés, adjacent to the mouth of the Umía River. This proximity to the sea allows the vineyards to be caressed by gentle sea breezes, imparting a distinctive character to their wines.

At Bodegas Albamar, they practice viticulture as naturally as possible, vinifying with respect, and aiming for a classic wine profile typical of the region (sharp, Atlantic, and highly mineral wines). From the most unique plots, they produce wines with more character, wines that fully express the terroir and the grape variety.

Albamar O Esteiro is crafted from mencía, caíño, and espadeiro grapes sourced from small, old vineyards scattered throughout the Valle de Salnés.

The harvest is conducted manually, with grape selection occurring in the vineyard. Once at the winery, 20% of the grapes are destemmed. Fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts, involving a maceration period of about three weeks. The wine undergoes maturation in French oak barrels for 8 months. It is bottled without filtration or clarification.
