About Abadal Picapoll
Abadal Picapoll is a white wine from the Pla del Bages produced by Bodegas Abadal. The winery, founded in 1983, is located in Santa Maria d'Horta d'Avinyó (Barcelona).
Abadal Picapoll is 100% made from the nearly extinct variety Picapoll Blanco (100%), Bodegas Abadal has sought to recover this variety native to the Pla del Bages. The grapes come from old vines planted on clay and limestone.
The climate of the area is Mediterranean with continental influences, it is characterized by low rainfall and a large thermal contrasts between day and night.
For the preparation of Abadal Picapoll a traditional fermentation takes place at low temperatures. Later, after maceration, the wine rests with its lees for three months in stainless steel.
