Chilean red wine
The Great Surprise of South America
In 1548, the Jesuit friar Francisco de Carabantes introduced vineyards to Chile. This act marked the beginning of a tradition that continues to this day, with Chilean red wine having earned a prominent place on the global stage. There are several reasons for this development.
Similarly, if Chilean red wines are renowned for anything, it is their meticulous production, a result of significant investment by the wineries, which are beginning to position themselves at the forefront with state-of-the-art and cutting-edge equipment.
Varieties for Chilean Red Wines.
Chilean red wines are crafted from ungrafted vineyards, predating phylloxera, where red varieties such as cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, or país prevail. The latter, native to the region, yields fresh wines in their youth that, with proper aging, transform into magnificent aged red wines.
Equally important is water for Chilean red wines, as, due to drought, the vines must be irrigated. For this purpose, water from the melting Andes is used, a natural supply source that provides benefits to the plant, such as protection against diseases or delaying the ripening of the grapes.
Do you dare to experience the quality of Chilean red wines for yourself? Check out our selection!
