About Alba de Domus
When the wine industry talks about a winery’s “second wine”, they are usually talking about a wine produced by the same winery that also makes a high-end or prestige wine. This second wine is usually a more affordable version compared to the winery’s main wine. So, Clos Quebrada de Macul, a well-known Chilean winery located in the Maipo Valley, produces their second wine from the same terroir as their Domus Aurea first wine.
Made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot, Alba de Domus was born in the foothills of the Andes Mountains on top quality gravel soils. The grapes are grown sustainably and with very low yield limits to obtain maximum quality. The grapes are harvested by hand and, once in the winery, the already selected grapes are fermented in the traditional way with native yeasts. The wine then matures in second and third use barrels for 18 to 24 months. Finally it is bottled and stays in the winery for 18 months before being released for sale.
Made with a focus on producing high-end wines that reflect the excellence of Chilean vineyards in the Maipo Valley, Alba de Domus is a pleasure to drink. A winery’s second wine that, like the first, has gained an excellent reputation for its quality and elegance, and has received recognition and high ratings from wine critics.
2018 | Alba de Domus 2018 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of black fruit, floral notes and spicy hints. On the palate it is full-bodied, complex and balanced. A very sweet wine with well-integrated acidity, noble tannins and a long, liquorice finish. |
