About Cono Sur Bicicleta Pinot Noir
Cono Sur is the name of the whole southern tip of South America, because of its elongated triangular shape, which is a bit like a cone, and includes Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. Using this name, the Guilisasti and Larraín families (owners of Viña Concha y Toro) founded a winery in 1993 with the aim of producing innovative, expressive, premium wines that express the spirit of the New World. And all this while complying with the highest standards of environmental impact and corporate social responsibility. To this end, they use renewable energies like solar panels, reduce water consumption in the winery by up to 27% and offset CO2 emissions generated by transportation. All in the name of better environmental conservation.
Their Cono Sur Bicicleta Pinot Noir wine is a single-variety Pinot Noir from vines planted in low-fertility alluvial soils in the Colchagua denomination in Chile’s Central Valley. The hot days and cool nights with morning fog result in a grape with a well-balanced sugar concentration and acidity. When the grapes are ready, they are harvested and taken to the winery. Once there, 20% is vinified in barrels and the remaining 80% in stainless steel tanks where the wine remains for 6 months before bottling.
Young, fresh and charismatic, Cono Sur Bicicleta Pinot Noir has become the best-selling Pinot Noir in the UK. A wine that stands as an excellent representative of the wines made in the southernmost tip of South America and whose success lies mainly in the sustainable work carried out both in the vineyard and in the winery.
2020 | Cono Sur Bicicleta Pinot Noir 2020 is a smooth red wine with aromas of red fruits, notes of ginger and hints of caramel. On the palate it is dry, lively and balanced. An extra dry medium-bodied wine, with noticeable acidity, fine tannins and a round fruity finish. |
