About Mazzei Zisola Noto Rosso
Although Mazzei is the name of one of the most famous and richest families in the history of Tuscan winemaking, the truth is that their desire to discover and experience other things led them to look for other areas where they could continue their winemaking adventure. So, in 2003, they became aware of the great potential hidden within the Val di Noto region in southeastern Sicily (Italy). A total of 21 hectares of vineyards where Tuscan passion meets Sicilian tradition.
The first wine made as part of this Sicilian adventure was Mazzei Zisola Noto Rosso. This wine starts life near the sea and in a soil rich in limestone where the Nero d'Avola variety can express itself with natural exuberance. In the winery the grapes ferment at a temperature of 26-28°C with a maceration period of 14-16 days. Finally, the wine ages for 9 months in small 225-litre French oak barrels, 33% of which are new.
With Mazzei Zisola Noto Rosso, the Mazzei family breaks barriers and demonstrates that with 6 centuries of Tuscan tradition, they can create a wine in the DOC Sicily with a new Nero d'Avola style.
2019 |
Mazzei Zisola Noto Rosso 2019 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of small, ripe red and black fruits accompanied by persuasive oak notes. The palate is savoury, rich and velvety. A wine with good structure and a long, layered flavour. It has an aging potential of up to 10 years. |
