About Belguardo Bronzone Morellino di Scansano Riserva
According to archaeological excavations, wine has been produced in the Maremma region of Tuscany since Etruscan times. Known today as the California of Italy, one of its most famous red wines, and certainly the most typical, is the one produced in the hilly area of the province of Grosseto, the Morellino di Scansano. This wine started life enjoying the benefits of the hills and the sea and thanks to having a strong identity since 2006, it already boasts its own DOCG. One of the wineries that has put the most effort into shaping this unique personality is the Belguardo Estate, a project taken on by the prestigious Mazzei family in the mid-1990s who have invested many years of research to implement an impressive vineyard replanting programme.
One of the wines launched under the leadership of the Mazzei family, Belguardo Bronzone Morellino di Scansano Riserva is a magnificent example of the rich personality of Morellino di Scansano wines. Made from the Sangiovese variety (locally called Morellino, a name taken from the Morelli horses that are typical of the area), once the grapes are harvested by hand, they are left to macerate and ferment at a controlled temperature of 27-29°C for 14-16 days. The wine is then aged for 14 months in partially used French oak barrels.
Under these premises an authentic “Cru” is born. Belguardo Bronzone Morellino di Scansano Riserva is a fantastic Morellino di Scansano Riserva with a unique flavour and typicity.
