About Celler Kripta Barrica Gran Reserva
Celler Kripta Barrica Gran Reserva is composed entirely of the Macabeo grape variety. The Macabeo grapes are segregated into three batches for processing. The first batch, comprising 40%, is vinified in French oak barrels where it also undergoes an aging period of 8 months. A significant portion of the Macabeo grapes is fermented in stainless steel tanks for 31 days at a controlled temperature of 16°C. The remainder of the grapes, harvested early, is used to perfect the balance of the blend. Following the vinification process and the subsequent blending, the wine is bottled and then aged for around 60 months in subterranean cellars. It is in these cellars where the wine undergoes secondary fermentation, transforming it into cava.
Celler Kripta Barrica Gran Reserva is a brut nature cava, signifying it is the style with the least amount of added sugars.

2010 | Robust and fruit-laden, with a velvety and dry palate. Pronounced fruity and spicy notes come to the fore. Excellently balanced acidity. The finish is extensive and enduring. Straw yellow with attractive greenish glints. Delicate effervescence. Pleasant aromas of white fruit are harmoniously blended with toasted, balsamic, and spicy undertones. Refreshing and well-structured. |

2009 | In the mouth, it is a dry and glyceride cava at the same time, with dense and cremy foam. The freshness of the fruit stands over the toasted background and the vanilla hints. Pale straw yellow colour with greenish reflections. Thin and abundant bubbles, good formation of the tears and dense crown. Intense nasal aromas with fruity notes of green apple, mixed with fine balsamic, spiced and toasted hints provided during its ageing in barrels. |
