About Vizcarra Torralvo Gran Reserva
Torralva Gran Reserva is a red wine from the D.O. Ribera del Duero produced by Bodegas Vizcarra in Mambrilla de Castrejon, a winery that was founded in 1991 by Juan Carlos Vizcarra, a passionate winemaker who decided to follow in his father's footsteps.
The climate in the D.O. Ribera del Duero is Mediterranean but continental in nature. It is characterized by a moderate-low rainfall, dry summers and long and harsh winters. Temperatures that vary considerably between seasons are recorded.
Torralvo Gran Reserva is a red wine made with grapes of the Tinta Fina variety from strains that are over 60 years old, a faithful reflection that is typical of the Ribera. In terms of preparation, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrels and is then aged for 30 months in new French oak barrels.
2011 | Vizcarra Torralvo Gran Reserva 2011 is an intense, complex and mature red wine. Produced only in the great vintages. This 2011 is full-bodied and with a great balance. An intoxicating nose where the toasted notes of aging take center stage without concealing the variety’s aromas of ripe black fruit. On the palate it is silky, with a majestic mouthfeel and a very lingering and lasting finish. |
