About Inés Vizcarra
Ines Vizcarra is a red wine from the D.O. Ribera del Dueroproduced by Bodegas Vizcarra in Mambrilla de Castrejon, a winery that was founded in 1991 by Juan Carlos Vizcarra, a passionate winemaker who decided to follow in his father's footsteps.
The climate in the D.O. Ribera del Duero is Mediterranean but continental in nature. It is characterized by a moderate-low rainfall, dry summers and long and harsh winters. Temperatures that vary considerably between seasons are recorded.
Inés Vizcarra owes its name to Juan Carlos Vizcarra’s second daughter. It is a red wine coupage of 90% Tinto fino (50 year old strains) complemented by 10% Merlot (11 year old vines).
Fermented in open 400 liter barrels and 3 stirrings and battonage a day to extract as much from the grapes as possible. It is transferred to French and American oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and subsequent aging for 16 months.
This Inés is a concentrated and structured wine due to the coupage of grapes and their extraction at the time of production.
2009 | Inés Vizcarra 2009 is a tasty and elegant red wine It's fleshy, warming and silky, filling the mouth. Very good intensity with the fruit and the wood very well integrated. Very ripe tannins. Very long and persistent finish with toasted notes at retro-olfaction. An intense picota cherry colour with violet reflections. Clean and bright, with abundant, dense tears on the glass. This nose is full of intense and persistent aromas. A good concentration of fruit appears at first and gives way to notes of dried fruit and spices, accompanied by cocoa and balsamic touches. |
