Domaine de Montbourgeau L'Etoile Cuvee Speciale is a white wine made from Chardonnay and a little bit Savagnin from the AOC l'Etoile, produced by Domaine de Montbourgeau.

Domaine Vacheron is a family winery in Sancerre run by the third generation of the family. They make traditional Jura wines. They are located in the village of l'Etoile and their vineyards consist mainly of Chardonnay, but they also cultivate a little Savagnin - 1.7 hectares of the 9 that they own. They cultivate organically, without certification.

The vineyards for Domaine de Montbourgeau L'Etoile Cuvee Speciale are planted on stony and limestone soils rich in pentacrinites, fossils in the shape of a star that probably gives its name to this denomination located in the heart of Jura.

The grapes forDomaine de Montbourgeau L'Etoile Cuvee Speciale are harvested manually. They ferment with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks without temperature control. The wine then goes into the barrel and there, after malolactic fermentation, a light veil of yeast forms on the surface. It remains ageing for 4 or 5 years, and thus has a very marked oxidative quality.

2012 Domaine de Montbourgeau L'Etoile Cuvee Speciale 2012 is a wine with a good intensity on the nose, notes of wax and honey, hazelnuts, walnuts and almonds over a salty and mineral base note. On the palate it is creamy and at the same time fresh, with a good structure and length. Its aftertaste is lingering, and there are also reminders of citrus, pear and dried fruit accompanied by a salty base note.
