About Viña Coqueta Reserva

Viña Coqueta is a Reserva red wine from the D.O. La Rioja produced by the winery Remírez de Ganuza.

Viña Coqueta takes its name from the estate "Coqueta", the estate where the grapes used to make this wine are taken from. The varieties used are Tempranillo (90%), Graciano (5%) and skins and pulp of Viura and Malvasía (5%).
The harvest is manual and the grapes are collected in 12kg boxes. The grapes are stored for 24 hours in refrigerated storehouses at a temperature controlled between 4 and 6 degrees. The tops and bottoms of the grape clusters are then separated on the sorting tables. This wine is made from the shoulders, the top part of the grape cluster with thus the most exposure to the sun.
The wine ferments in small stainless steel tanks and French oak vats. The malolactic fermentation occurs in new barrels.
Viña Coqueta is aged for 22 months in new barrels and more than 2 years in the bottle.

2009

Viña Coqueta Reserva 2009 is a robust red. The bouquet is intricate, featuring baked blackcurrant, balsamic hints, and forest floor nuances. On the palate, it is sumptuous, with fine-grained tannins and red berry notes. It has a meaty texture with a lingering licorice flavor.
2006 Viña Coqueta boasts a broad and rich mouthfeel, with discernible hints of toasted nuances and spices. It possesses fine-grained tannins.

The wine exhibits a beautiful deep cherry-red hue with dense, luminous tears.

On the nose, it is remarkably intense, evoking preserved fruits, balsamic essences, caramel, and dried nuts. Mineral notes with graphite reminiscences are also present.
