Valenciso 10 Años Después 2015 is a red wine that impresses with its robust structure and mature character. Originating from the esteemed Tempranillo grape, this wine is distinguished by its pronounced notes of ripe black fruits such as blackberries and prunes, complemented by hints of vanilla and cocoa due to its careful aging in Caucasian and French oak barrels. About Valenciso 10 Años Después

Quality is always the top priority at Valenciso. At this D.O.Ca Rioja winery, they prefer not to make wines in years when the grapes are not good enough. It is true. Just like we said (this happened in 2003 and 2013). Because of this way of working, only very special wines can be expected from this winery. How could that not be the case? Their most noble wine is Valenciso 10 Años Después, which has spent a whole decade waiting to be bottled.

Some of the aging happens in cement and some in Caucasian oak barrels. That is the secret of this very special red wine, a single-variety Tempranillo, that is balanced and very elegant. Part of this character is achieved in the vineyard, where the vines are cultivated organically (although at the moment they are not certified). In fact, Tempranillo is one of the most widely cultivated grapes in the D.O. Ca Rioja. It is native to the area and currently takes up 75% of the vineyard. To make Valenciso 10 Años, in La Rioja Alta, this variety grows on a wide range of soils (clay-limestone, clay-ferrous and alluvial) and under an Atlantic climate (with cold winters and mild summers). Likewise, the Tempranillo variety is very susceptible to frost and low temperatures, but the Valenciso winery avoids this by taking great care of the vines, all of which are cultivated manually and in a traditional way.

The harvest is the starting point of the winemaking process. Obviously, this work is done by hand, selecting only the best clusters to take to the winery. Once there, the grapes are destemmed and go directly to the cement tanks for fermentation. This happens with the whole grape. Malolactic fermentation also takes place here. Once finished, the normal thing to do would be to change tanks and decant the wine... but no! In this case, Valenciso 10 Años Después spends approximately 4 years here. After this, it is time for the Caucasian oak barrel, where Valenciso 10 Años Después remains for another four years (approx.).

We know that good things take time, and Valenciso 10 Años Después is probably one of the best wines you can try in La Rioja.

Valenciso Reserva 10 Años Después 2012 is a mature, cherry-coloured red wine. Elegant and sophisticated. Smoky and spicy aromas on the nose combine beautifully with liquorice and red and black fruit. The palate is long, flavoursome and lively, with great freshness. Creamy tannins. Spicy finish.
