About Ternario 10

Garnacha tintorera (also known as Alicante Bouschet or Alicante Henri Bousche) is a completely unique grape variety for one reason: its coloured pulp, resulting in wines with intense, vivid and very striking red tones.

Traditionally, Garnacha Tintorera was very prominent in Spain. It was mainly used to give colour to other wines with more muted tones. Gradually, people stopped growing it, until the 1990s, when it was sidelined in favour of other varieties. Now, almost 30 years later, several wineries are committed to recovering and promoting this variety, as is the case of MGWines, the winemaking group led by the Miñano Gómez family. This project has been led by winemaker Raúl Pérez, who has created Ternario 10, a single-variety red wine, grown without chemical treatments in the D.O. Almansa (southeast of Albacete) in Castilla La Mancha (Spain). However, Ternario 10 is not alone in this adventure. Ternario 1 and Ternario 2, the other wines that make up this limited collection, are there too. These wines are made by the Venta La Vega winery, with 250 hectares of 25-year-old vineyards, lying at an altitude of 1,200 metres above sea level, where the grapes are selected and harvested by hand.

After being very well looked after in the vineyard, the wine is taken to the winery, where fermentation in wooden vats and aging for 11 months in foudres make Ternario 10 the perfect way to discover this variety’s qualities.
