About Seckinger Kapellenberg Chardonnay

While some perceive changes as a threat, others embrace them as an opportunity to explore new pathways. Here, in the heart of the Palatinado in Germany, the Seckinger family has chosen to embark on that path towards innovation with their own project.

Seckinger comprises three biodynamic siblings who draw inspiration from classic natural Chablis and the technique of ouillé wines, infusing a unique touch of freshness as they delve into the terroir of their historic vineyards, predominantly composed of red sandstone (buntsandstein). Lukas and Philipp manage the vineyards, while Jonas leads the winemaking.

From the outset, Seckinger has invested in the restoration of historic vineyards through biodynamic practices, working on 20 hectares that combine red sandstone, marl, and limestone soils. An approach that respects and enhances the natural character of each grape, creating wines that deeply reflect their origin.

Seckinger Kapellenberg Chardonnay is a chardonnay crafted from whole cluster maceration for 10-12 hours before moving to the free-run juice and continuing with spontaneous fermentation. There are no technical tricks or temperature control. The fermentation occurs naturally, allowing the wine to express itself. Some barrels are topped up, while others are left to controlled oxidation. And the sulphur... it's simply kept to a minimum, used only when the wine truly requires it.

Seckinger Kapellenberg Chardonnay is a testament to passion, family, and respect for nature. A German wine in the Burgundy style that invites exploration, enjoyment, and, above all, sharing.
