About Roda I Reserva

Roda I is a red wine crafted by Bodegas Roda, within the D.O.Ca Rioja.

Roda is a contemporary winery situated on a balcony in the renowned Barrio de la Estación in Haro, the capital of La Rioja Alta, within a 19th-century cellar. Its facilities are tailor-made for the wines produced there, embracing innovation while upholding the region's centuries-old winemaking tradition.

A "calado" is a type of subterranean cave with high humidity, maintaining a constant temperature throughout the year, making it an ideal location for the preservation and ageing of wine.

At Bodegas Roda, wines are crafted and classified according to the unique characteristics each vineyard offers. Each bottle is a reflection of the landscape. These plots correspond to old vineyards that yield high-quality grapes.

In the case of Roda I Reserva, the vineyards selected tend to exhibit black fruit and depth. The vineyards are selectively harvested to achieve optimal ripeness. The alcoholic fermentation occurs in oak vats with controlled temperatures. The wine is aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new and the remainder are used once. Finally, it is naturally stabilized and clarified with egg whites, bottled, and then spends approximately a year and a half in the winery to achieve its final refinement before being released.

Roda I Reserva is a wine that can be savoured now but also boasts excellent ageing potential.
