About Paul Chavy Saint-Romain La Perriere

Bearing a surname steeped in history may seem like a predetermined destiny, yet each generation has the opportunity to leave its distinctive mark. Such has been the case for the Chavy family, entrenched in Puligny-Montrachet (Burgundy) for over 200 years.
Generation after generation, the family has adeptly blended tradition with innovation. However, a turning point arrived in 1986 when Gérard Chavy began bottling his own wines. From that moment, the legacy was divided between his two sons, and one of them, Jean-Louis Chavy, not only preserved the family essence but elevated winemaking to new heights with state-of-the-art facilities.

Today, the next generation takes up the mantle with vigour: Jean-Louis’s son, Paul Chavy, has begun crafting his own range of wines, venturing beyond Puligny-Montrachet and sourcing fruit from regions as exceptional as Saint-Aubin and Gevrey-Chambertin. The result: wines that merge innovation with reverence for tradition, clearly demonstrating that the Chavy name continues to set trends in the wine world.

Embodied with the essence of the Saint-Romain terroir in Burgundy with delicacy and sophistication, we are introduced to Paul Chavy Saint-Romain La Perriere. A cuvée originating from La Perrière, one of the finest vineyards in Saint-Romain, located near the border of Auxey-Duresses and just a short drive from Meursault. Chardonnay vines planted in very limestone-rich soil impart elegance, freshness, and minerality. This is the result of precise and respectful work that continues in the winery, with the priority being to showcase the terroir's fullest expression. The wine ferments at a controlled temperature with indigenous yeasts and then ages in 350-litre barrels, of which only 15% is new oak, with a blend of top-tier cooperage.

Paul Chavy Saint-Romain La Perrière captivates with its refined elegance, enveloping depth, and flawless balance, achieving a harmonious balance between respect for tradition and innovative drive. This wine is a true reflection of the excellence that characterises Burgundy wines, yet it also exemplifies that it is still possible to discover exceptional gems at a good price if you know where to look.
