About Niepoort Dão Rotulo Branco
Niepoort Dão Rotulo Branco is a DOC Dão-classified coupage of Encruzado, Borrado das moscas, Rabo de Ovelha and Cercial. It is made by the Niepoort winery.
Niepoort is a winery in the Douro region founded in 1842. It has been owned by the Niepoort family since 1858 and is currently run by Drik Niepoort, 5th generation of the family. Today it has vineyards in other parts of Portugal. They produce high quality Port wines and for the last few years, they have also been making good white, red and rosé wines.
The Niepoort Dão Rotulo Branco vines are between 40 and 60 years old and they are planted in mainly granite soils. The planting density is about 4,500 plants per hectare. They are about 450 meters above sea level and are harvested by hand.
The Niepoort Dão Rotulo Branco ferments in stainless steel tanks and once fermented, it sits in cement deposits for 12 months on its fine lees to settle and grow in body and creaminess, whilst at the same time preserving the aromas and minerality.
Only about 6,000 bottles of the Niepoort Dão Rotulo Branco are produced, it is a delicate, light, well-balanced wine that reflects the granitic soils of the region.

2017 | Niepoort Dão Rotulo Branco 2017 offers timid but exceptionally delicate aromas to begin with. Beautifully balanced notes of pear and white flowers with touches of stone. On palate it is light and silky, with a pleasant acidity and a citrus character. It has a lingering finish that is full of dried herbs and fruits. It is great for any occasion. |
