About Mo Salinas

Mo Salinas is a wood-aged red wine made by Sierra Salinas with the Monastrell, Cabernet Sauvignon and Alicante Bouschet varieties in the D.O. Alicante, in the Valencia region.

Sierra Salinas was set up by the Castaño family in 2006 next to the Sierra de Salinas, in the town of Villena (Alicante). The estate includes 92 hectares of vineyards, olive and almond trees and a winery built to work by gravity and without using any electric pumps. It is currently owned by the MGWines Group and, in keeping with the founders’ philosophy, they produce very special Mediterranean wines.

Mo Salinas comes from vineyards lying at an altitude of 650 metres above sea level. The vines are aged between 10 and 20 years old and planted in stony soils that are poor in organic matter and have a calcareous and clayey subsoil. They are cultivated using traditional agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.

To make Mo Salinas, the grapes undergo a strict selection process In the winery. Once crushed, they macerate for about 10 days at a controlled temperature and ferment in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 4 months in French oak barrels.

The name Mo Salinas is taken from the first syllable of the native Monastrell variety, and this wine is a coupage of red varieties that really showcases this Levantine variety. Mediterranean uniqueness.
