About Mira Salinas
Mira Salinas is a wood-aged red wine made by Sierra Salinas in the D.O. Alicante, in the Valencia region with the Monastrell, Garnacha Tintorera and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties.
Mira Salinas was set up by the Castaño family in 2006, west of the Sierra de Salinas, in Villena (Alicante). They have a total of 92 hectares of land where the vines grow alongside almond and olive trees at 700 metres above sea level. The winery is now owned by the MGWines Group and their wines are a pure reflection of the Mediterranean climate.
Mira Salinas comes from a vineyard located between the Sierra de Salinas and the Sierra Teja. The vines range in age from 15 to 45 years old and are planted in calcareous-stony soils that are poor in organic matter. They are cultivated using traditional agriculture and the harvest is carried out at the optimum point of ripeness.
Once they reach the winery, the grapes are crushed and then fermented in stainless steel tanks for two weeks at a controlled temperature of 28ºC. They also macerate with the skins for a total of 21 days. The unique design of the winery allows the wine to travel by gravity and it is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels in an underground room with natural thermal insulation.
Mira Salinas is a balanced, well-rounded and very fruity coupage of three great red varieties. A great way to discover the best expression of the terroir on a typical Mediterranean estate.
2012 | Mira Salinas 2012 is a concentrated red wine with a complex nose of well-ripened red and black fruit, spicy notes and hints of dark chocolate and nuts. On the palate it is rich, meaty and fresh. A wine with a silky texture, integrated acidity and a long and balanced finish. |
