About Livio Felluga Sharis
Livio Felluga Sharis is a white wine coupage of the Ribolla Gialla and Chardonnay varieties produced by the Livio Felluga winery, under the IGT Bianco Delle Venezie, in Friuli-Venice Julia, Italy.
Livio Felluga Sharis is made with manually harvested grapes from plots with predominantly loam and sandstone soils. When the grapes reach the winery, the clusters are destemmed and allowed to macerate for a short time and then gently pressed to obtain the must that is clarified by decantation. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The resulting wine ages with its fine lees for six months. It finishes refining in the bottle for a couple of months before going to market.
The combination of both varieties, one international and the other native, brings balance and complexity to the wine and represents a union between Friuli and the rest of the world. On the one hand, the Chardonnay variety gives the coupage an aromatic character while the Ribolla Gialla grape gives it texture and vivacity. Livio Felluga is one of the great winemaking names in Italy, he is considered “the father” of Friuli winemaking, who after World War II saw his dream come to life; producing wines in the Rosazzo region, where he dedicated his life to the vineyards.
Currently the estate covers more than 160 hectares in the Collio region. Livio Felluga was onto something. Some of his wines are considered to be some of the best in Italy.
2018 | Livio Felluga Sharis 2018 is a white wine with floral aromas of jasmine, golden lilies and mimosas accompanied by fruity notes of lime and golden apple with a hint of lemon custard. On the palate it is lively and balanced with flavours of ripe white fruits, currants and kiwis, with a balsamic finish and a persistent aftertaste. |
